Cataclysm the smoothest launch ever?

This question will become moot in a week but I can't help and wonder if Cataclysm will be the smoothest expansion launch in the history of WoW.

The signs are all pointing towards this theory.

Patches 4.0.1 and 4.0.3a have brought back a lot of players already.

The Shattering has occurred and Azeroth is now changed forever.

Cataclysm has been available for preorder for a while and many people (myself included) have downloaded most of the content already.

Blizzard has learned from past experiences and should now be more prepared than ever.

I don't know, but I'm pretty optimistic about the Cataclysm launch. There will surely be small issues here and there, server restarts and so on but I feel that most of these will be resolved quickly and people will be able to play properly sooner than ever.

What about you? What do you think?

I haven't seen a log in wait queue for my server ever. Since the latest patch I'm always seeing a wait to get in-game. I am usually number 2 or 3 in the wait line, so it's just a few seconds til I can get in, but damn it's only going to get worse.

I really can't comment, since I only started playing a little over a year ago. I guess we'll wait and see, tho.

So much has been predownloaded and so much has gone so smoothly that it's almost as if there doesn't even need to be an actual disk inside that Cataclysm box. Just a serial number to type in, and a DIABLO 3 COMING SOON! advertisement is all they need in there.

@Cold I thought the login queues had gone the way of the dodo. I haven't seen one in... can't even remember when. I think way back in BC but definitely never in Wrath. Your server must be super-populated. Though mine is still highly populated it doesn't have these issues.

@Redbeard oh you kids have it easy these days. Why, when I was young I had to walk in the snow up a hill 10 miles both ways :)

@Lugnut Daffodil you've hit the nail on the head. I couldn't have expressed it more eloquently myself.

I have been very pleased with the pre-launch and love the game. I also like the fact that we have to rediscover things. For instance leveling cooking from 250-275 is not the same. Our friend who sold us the recipes we needed were killed in both locations for the Horde. I have not checked it on the alliance side.

It will also make everyone stay current with information who write about WOW. I really love the changes...and looking forward to the future of WOW

How does a quest go from working to bugged? See "The Shining Light" comments on Wowhead. I had trouble with it myself.

So smooth? No, not really...

@phill yes the old Azeroth is no more and the new Azeroth is a brand new experience (well, with a few exceptions like Arathi Highlands)

@Anonymous a 100% perfect launch will never happen. There will always be bugs. Still, comparing to previous expansions I believe (and hope) it will be smoother.
