Cataclysm zone progression with mining nodes

This should be common knowledge by now but just in case someone might have missed it (and also as a self-reminder), here's a list of Cataclysm new zones, with their level ranges.

Also, I've compiled a list of mining nodes for each zone. I got inspiration for this from Kaliope's Crafting Blog.

80-82
Mount Hyjal or Vashj'ir
425 Obsidium Deposit

82-83
Deepholm
425 Obsidium Deposit
475 Elementium Vein
500 Rich Elementium Vein

83-84
Uldum
475 Elementium Vein
500 Rich Elementium Vein
525 Pyrite Deposit

84-85
Twilight Highlands
475 Elementium Vein
500 Rich Elementium Vein
525 Pyrite Deposit

Personally I think I'm gonna skip Vashj'ir because I will concentrate on farming during the first week. I really don't want to deal with the hassle of 3D combat and I don't want to waste time doing the pre-requisite quests for getting the swimming mount.

I'm also a bit uneasy after hearing that some of these zones are heavily phased and this includes mining/herbing nodes. It would suck if one has to do quests in order to unlock certain nodes.

In addition, it looks like Deepholm is locked down until one hits 82, which is another stupid restriction that I dislike. I really hate it when Blizzard is trying to artificially block certain zones just so people can't get there very quickly.

Hey Darth - even if Deepholme wasn't artificially restricted, you likely wouldn't want to go there to try any mining until 82 anyway. The mobs there have from 40-50K health and hit like a Mack truck.

Is it just me, or that pyrite must be really really hard to find on Azeroth. I mean, we find it all over the place here on Earth. ;-)

@Joar that is valid for the other zones as well but for farming I guess you can pull it off as long as you don't get too close to those mobs. I'm thinking about farming naked so I won't care if I die a bazillion times.

@Redbeard that's magic pyrite man! What do you know :)

thanks for the list. The only advantage I see to restricting this upfront is that it might keep some people from flooding the market with the new materials...looks like the race is on.

Nevermind, it has already happened because it's easy to get to the final zone, Twilight Highlands. More details in a future post!

@redbeardActually we know Azeroth is an artificial construct by the titans. It's likely they didn't see a reason to include a relatively useless material in it's construction. Little did they know...
