The 3.2 Break

That's it, I quit! Not really, but my WoW subscription is up and I decided that a break from the game was long overdue. It's well enough that patch 3.2 is right around the corner because it brings a lot of new and exciting things to the game and it will be refreshing to return when it hits the live servers.

Every once in a while, things start to get stale in World of Warcraft. That's another reason why I renew my subscription on a month-to-month basis. Now, I've reached that point again. After running my third character through Zul'Drak, my second one through Storm Peaks and Icecrown, after the same repetitive Argent Tournament dailies, cooking dailies and Dalaran/Shattrath fishing dailies, WoW has started to turn a little moldy around the edges.

To end it off on a different note, I spent this last day running my Hunter through some old Classic content. One of the deeds I completed on my own was the quest Order Must Be Restored, which is the culmination of a chain and requires you to slay Nathanos Blightcaller. In WoW Classic, this used to be (in fact still is) a raid quest. I remember the difficulty we had back then even with a whole raid group when I was playing my first character, a Paladin. Today, at 80, a Hunter can kick this dude's (and his dogs) butt to kingdom come.

After a thoroughly satisfying way in which I spent the last day of WoW, I now say farewell to the game for a little while. I am not saying goodbye to my blog though so please stick around dear readers. I have so many articles lined up and new ideas in my head that I could keep on writing, without playing, until the next expansion.

Now I'm off to engage in other hobbies as well. Ah, so many hobbies, so little time!

We used to gank the Alliance when they assembled for that quest, since you get PvP flagged once you attack him. After all, he is a hero of the Horde and it is our duty to protect him! ^^

And back in vanilla WoW this dude could tear up a whole raid as you said, so it only took a few evil horde players to cause the alliance to wipe. Ah the good old times!

Anyone remember the Scarlet courier that you had to kill at the end of a pretty long quest chain? That one was hard as hell, too.

Glad you'll continue the blog! Have a good break from the game! I've got a couple of family vacations coming up, so will be taking the occasional breaks myself since my wife seems to pick vacation spots based on their lack of internet access!

It's great to hear that you will continue with your blog. It may not be too much of a break though since 3.2 might be out in the next month or two :)

Enjoy!

Hey guys! Like I said, the break will be mostly from the daily WoW grind. I'm also expecting 3.2 to be live within a month or so. In the meantime I'm hoping to keep you entertained with more articles.

I need to catch up with a lot of other stuff, mostly hobbies, that I've neglected these past months.

@Joe dude, how can you survive so long without the internetz? I'd go crazy!

I'm going to steal it from work I think, otherwise I may very well go crazy. If I can't do that it would probably be best if I just lock myself in the new flat for a while, its safer ;)

Hey bud, I think its brilliant you are taking a break. You're so right in the fact that Wow can become very stale. I have that feeling a lot right now but I'm now enjoying TF2 which I bought months ago but never played. Please keep up the posts though and have fun mate.

I'm right there with you, although I'm leaving my subscription open for the odd times I want to drop in & play on an alt for a bit. My husband & I just opened up Station Access acounts & have been revisiting Everquest 2, Vanguard (still great on his, laggy as hell on my computer), and mucking around in Pirates of the Burning Sea & Free Realms. We've also woken up & realised we have a bunch of PS3 games that are getting dusty.

My poor paladin tank is languishing until the patch anyway. She just got to the point where I can run heroics with her & all my friends are running raids for the token thingys you get there. When the patch comes in it'll be easier for them to get them in heroics and then they'll need me. I'll be wanted! It'll be a novel experience ;)

I can't tell you all how excited I am now that I have more time to engage in other activities. I feel less stressed! Unfortunately, when I get home from work I still need to spend at least an hour replying to emails and checking the news.

i'm going to gamble a fiver upon your return you'll get some nice drop within a week.

its the secret game mechanics at work I tell you!

Haha I wouldn't be surprised. I'm wondering how many players experienced this.

Yup, Ive been off WoW for a month or so now, and its been great catching up with other stuff. I still keep up with this Blog, my guild site and Wow.com, as Im fairly certain Ill be back playing once the new patch comes out.

In the meantime - Travian (travian.com) has become very addictive - completely different type of game, but great fun.

I've started to get used to life without WoW and I almost dread having to start playing again. Don't get me wrong, I love WoW dearly. It's just that I love it TOO much and I'm afraid that I'll be hooked again (as it always happens) and I won't have time for anything else (again).
