Having finished the two Childre's Week quest chains, I now have a total of 54 vanity pets. The latest additions are Whiskers the Rat and Sleepy Willy.
If you are interested in vanity pets then you shouldn't miss out on these quests. The two chains are very easy (they just require some travel) and are excellently explained on Breanni's WarcraftPets.com site in the Children's Week Guide.
